Day 1Calanga

We will meet at Mussiro’s Office in Maputo at 6:30 to start our Jouney. The drive to Calanga is a 2-hour drive, but we will stop in Manhiça for breakfast and for buying whatever you still need :-). There are a nice coffee-shop and a small store where you can stock up if you haven’t done it in Maputo.

We will arrive at Calanga around 10:00. Calanga is a beautiful beach with giant dunes, and we will have it totally for our selfs. Great surfing spot.

We will spend the day and night in Calanga at a Glamping site. Both Lunch and Dinner are included on Day 1. There not many options in that paradise anyway 🙂

Day 2Chizavane and Závora

We will wake up to the rhythm of the waves, and pretty early, little before the sun rises, it will be worth it, believe me!

We will have time for a cup of coffee and quickly jump into the ocean if you want to, but we have to get going for our next stop which is Chizavane. Chizavane is another beach, known by many things, but nothing tops its waves and the oysters. We will stop there for a while, have one cold drink, or two, and head north to Závora.

Zavora is located 27km away from the town of Inharrime. Zavora Bay is protected by a reef and there is a natural tidal pool created by this reef that is ideal for snorkeling and swimming

Depending on the time of the year you might see some Humpback whales, they do mate and calve in the warm waters of Mozambique and can be seen as they move past on their return trip to the Southern Ocean during June to November.

We will leave Závora and drive to Tofo, where we will spend the evening. We will stay in a very nice site at the beach. Sleep in rooms, sharing.

Day 3Tofo and Praia da Barra

You will enjoy a free morning in Tofo. You can sleep-in, ocean safari, dive or just enjoying the Magic Tofo bay. Tofo is one of the most famous beaches in Mozambique, its landscape, warm waters, its waves, the vibe, the sunset football matches at the beach, the lobster, the full moon at the beach, the sunrise, whatever, we have no idea why, but must be something or maybe everything together, because its a place that won’t go out of your heart anymore.

In the afternoon we will go by Safari Truck to Praia da Barra, a long beach that connects with Inhambane Bay. You can snorkel, visit the mangrove, or just relax.

We will spend the evening in Tofo and go where the music takes us…

Day 4Pomene

Today we will drive to Pomene, a paradise beach that used to be home of very nice lodges but because of the difficult access, it’s kind of empty right now.

But the best of Pomene is still there, nature is unbelievable with a perfect mixture of waves and small lakes for snorkeling. Sand dunes and green mountains protect this immense beach.

Today lunch is included because otherwise, we would be in trouble finding food. We will take food with us and serve you at the beach properly :-).. don’t forget we have a fridge at the safari truck (it seems we can read your mind)

We will keep driving north and reach Vilankulos to spend the night in a beach lodge. Sharing rooms again. (Single rooms upon request)

Day 5Bazaruto

From Vilankulos we can reach the beautiful islands of Bazaruto Archipelago. We will go on a boat trip for the day and visit 2 or 3 islands, depending on how the day goes. It’s time to relax, amazing snorkeling and float in the clear waters of Bazaruto.

We will be back in the evening to our beach lodge and have some beach party. It’s Friday night!

Day 6Long drive to Quelimane

The night was long for everyone but our driver. So we prepared a long drive for today. You can sleep in the Safari Truck on the move, no problem.

We will stop on the way to have lunch and of course appreciate the African beautiful landscapes, talk to people and mingle a bit. But most of it is driving. You can update your blog or social media because we do have chargers and internet on board.

We will stop at Quelimane where we will sleep over. Quelimane is a big city compared with all the others where we will be stopping during this expedition. It’s Saturday night so you should expect some movement.

Day 7Ilha de Moçambique

We will keep going North to Ilha de Mozambique, but we will have some stopovers at some remote waterfalls and other treasures.

We will reach Ilha hopefully before sunset and appreciate our deserved welcome drink at one of the most beautiful places of the Africam Eastern Coast.

Ilha de Moçambique was the former capital city of Mozambique. It used to be a strategic commercial site from the east. Its waters hide many boat wrecks with its treasures. It’s a magical place where you can feel the history at every corner.

We will sleep in a guest house. Sharing rooms. Single rooms upon request. It’s Sunday and the island will slow us down after the last 2 days of road 🙂

Day 8Boat trip

We will go on a boat trip the full day, stopping in Chocas, at Island os Sete Paus and Cabaceira. All of that in the calm bay of Ilha de Moçambique, taking it slowly and following the wind.

We will have lunch at the beach, an incredible curry with fresh seafood.

In the evening we will be back in Ilha de Moçambique, only after swimming at the pear at the sunset.

Day 9Ilha de Moçambique

Today we will spend at Ilha itself. Visit the fortress, and the museum, walking around. We will have a cooking workshop and some free time to appreciate the pace of Ilha de Moçambique.

Day 10Quissanga

On day 10 we will get on the Safari Truck again and drive to Quissanga. That’s where we will reach Quirimbas, the most untouched archipelago in all the eastern Africa coast.

Quirimbas is just unbelievable and even after 10 days of amazing experiences, you will for sure be surprised.

We will sleep in Quissanga. Sharing rooms. (Single rooms upon request)

Day 11Quirimbas Boat Trip

Quirimbas has 27 islands, we will stop in 3 to 5 today, depending on the wind. We will stop whenever you shout that you need a swim, or just because you have seen a sea turtle or a group of dolphins. We will have lunch in one of the islands and sleep as well to the sound of the tide.

Day 12Ibo island

We will keep our boat trip to Ilha do Ibo. Ibo is a little bit like Ilha de Mozambique, but smaller. It used to be an important town for trading. We will reach Ibo at lunchtime so that we have time to appreciate it’s nice restaurants and walk around the island.

We will sleep there and have a blast of our farewell party. Sharing rooms. Single rooms upon request.

Day 13Ibo to Pemba

We will wake up and take it slowly. We will leave Ibo on the boat and reach the mainland where our safari truck is waiting for us again. We will arrive at Pemba in the afternoon.

Pemba has an international airport and flights to Dar Es Salaam, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Maputo, and a few other destinations. We can help you to sort out where to sleep in Pemba and how to go on with your travel. Breath in, you just had a BLAST! 🙂
